About PCIP
Patent Counselors IP (PCIP) is based in Silicon Valley near the USPTO office in San Jose, California. We serve clients nationwide.
PCIP is managed by patent attorney David Tran. David is a licensed attorney in the US. He is a member of the California Bar and a registered patent attorney with the Patent and Trademarks Office (USPTO). David was a Patent Examiner at the USPTO in the Computer Architecture art unit and has been practicing in the intellectual property (IP) field since 1998.
Prior to founding PCIP, David was a patent attorney at many leading IP law firms in the Silicon Valley of California. David was also a senior patent attorney at Intel Corporation, responsible for supporting and managing a patent portfolio.
Prior to practicing IP law, David was a programmer and an engineer at IBM Santa Teresa Lab and at IBM San Jose in California. David's formal education includes an undergraduate degree (BS) in Computer Science, a graduate degree (MS) in Computer Engineering, and a law degree (JD).

Provisional Patent Applications
When time is of the essence, filing a provisional patent application may be necessary. PCIP handles the preparation and filing of provisional patent applications. For a low fixed fee, get a PATENT PENDING status for 12 months with a filing of a provisional application.
Utility Patent Applications
A utility patent application is a complete patent application with full description, drawings and claims ready to be reviewed and examined by the USPTO for novelty. PCIP handles the preparation, filing and prosecution of utility patent applications.
Trademark Applications
Your business name and logo define your business. PCIP will perform searches of the USPTO database and identify classification(s) that fit your business. PCIP will prepare trademark applications to protect your trade name, and the artwork(s) and any stylized texts included in your logo. Having a registration can prevent others from copying and competing against your business.
Office Action Responses
PCIP handles reviewing, preparing and filing Responses to Office Actions of pending patent applications and trademark applications. These applications can be filed by PCIP or by others.
